Dear Prospective Parent,

Welcome to Cedar Hills Baptist Christian School, located on the Westside of Jacksonville. Our school is a ministry of Cedar Hills Baptist Church. We have been a lighthouse in the Cedar Hills community for 36 years.

As the principal of CHBCS, I want to thank you for your interest in our school. We want to be a blessing to you and your family. If you are interested in more information about our school, please contact the school office for a tour and visit of our classrooms.

We pray for the Lord's wisdom as you seek a school for your child(ren). Please do not hesitate to call our school office for more information or if we can be of help.

CEDAR HILLS BAPTIST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
June 25, 2008

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope each of you are having a restful, enjoyable summer! Enclosed in this packet will be helpful information as you prepare for the upcoming 2008-09 school year.
We are in the process of renovating the front two classrooms of Building #300 (the building facing the large parking lot). We have been blessed to be able to move our school office to the front of our campus, making the school a much safer place for your children and our staff. Your Walk-a-thon support has made this possible. Thank you for your great help and support to make this much-needed project possible.

Tardy Bell (PK-8th): 8:15 a.m.

Drop-Off Morning

No one is allowed on the campus until the bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Please do not drop your student off in the parking lot or in front of the Office. There will be a staff member on duty at the large parking lot at 7:50 a.m. each morning. Our school Safety Patrols will begin placing the large orange cones in the parking lot at 7:45 a.m. each morning. However, please do not leave your child until the Safety Patrols are standing by the large orange cones at 7:50 a.m. PLEASE REMEMBER, OUR SCHOOL CLOCK/BELL SYSTEM MAY NOT ALWAYS COINCIDE WITH YOUR WATCH.

Drop-Off Procedures

PK3-K5: Please walk your child to their classroom each morning. Do not allow them to walk to the classroom alone. An older sibling may walk the child to the classroom.

Grades 1-2: Students may walk to their classroom. There will be a teacher on duty inside their classroom building from 7:50 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. At 8:10 a.m., they will be dismissed to their classroom (in that building).

Grades 3-4: Students may walk to the Cafeteria. There will be a teacher on duty from 7:50 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. Your child's teacher will pick up the students from the Cafeteria.

Grades 5-8: Students may walk to their classroom area. They will place their book bags outside the classroom doors and then walk the courtyard with their friends. Teachers will be on duty from 7:50 a.m. until 8:10 a.m.

**PLEASE NOTE: Students are not to be dropped off in the small parking lot. All gates will be closed and locked. Students must be dropped off in the large parking lot only. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE SMALL PARKING LOT.

Pick-Up Afternoons

Pre-School: Pick-up will be 12:00 each day (unless your student is in Extended Care). Your child's teacher and assistant will walk the students to the front of Building #300 (school office) at 11:50 a.m. each day.

K5: Your student's teachers will walk the class to the front parking lot at 2:15 p.m. each day. You will drive through the parking lot to pick up your student. Your student will be walked to your car by a Safety Patrol.

Grades 1-5: Your student will be walked to the large parking lot by their teacher(s) at 2:20 p.m. They will be in line according to their grade. You will drive through the parking lot and a Safety Patrol will help your student into the car.

Grades 6-8: At 2:25 p.m., your student will be dismissed from their classroom to go to their locker. They will then walk to the large parking lot and be picked up there. A teacher will be on duty with your student.

***ALL students must be picked up and off campus each day by 2:45 p.m. Any student not picked up on time will go to our Extended Care program since we do not have staff to monitor late pick-ups. There will be a charge.

Authorized Pick-Up Names

On the "yellow" Questionnaire form, there is an area for Emergency Contact Names. This is also for all authorized family and friends that are allowed to pick up your child from school. If you need more space, please list the names on the back of the yellow sheet. WE CANNOT TAKE PHONE CALLS FOR PICK-UPS. However, you can fax us that information as needed. This is for your student's safety. Any changes to this list (additions or deletions) must be made in writing and given to the school office.

Teacher Conferences

Please call the school office to make arrangements for a teacher conference. Please do not go to the classroom before or after school to discuss your student. The Student Assignment Notebook is a great communication tool to be used by both the teacher and parent.

Campus Visitors

All parents and visitors must check in through the office between 8:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. You will be given a Visitors Badge before going onto the campus. This is for the safety of our students.

General Information

The front main gate will be locked each day at 8:15 a.m. and remain locked until 2:15 p.m. each day. All visitors must come through the main office front doors between these hours. All visitors will sign in, receive a Visitors Badge and then return through the office to sign out and return the badge.

Thank you for entrusting your child(ren) to us! Please keep us in your prayers as we strive to teach, nurture and love your child throughout this school year. Your child is very important to us and we want to make this the best possible school year for them! If we can be of any assistance, please contact the school office. We will be glad to help in any way we possibly can. I am excited to see what God has in His plan for our school this year!
